JD is Directing a short play, 'Oak and Ash and Thorn' - written by Casey Joiner, which is being performed at the Gene Frankel theatre as part of The Radioactive Festival.
"Aoife agrees to go on a date with the charming and charismatic Vinny, though their cultural backgrounds threaten to kill their relationship before it can even begin. 'Oak and Ash and Thorn' Examines the harsh societal stigmas in 1980's New York, including the struggle of many second generation Americans to negotiate the balance between familial traditions and their own cultural identities"

GLASS
American Musical and Dramatic Academy students Keri Kelly, Hunter Flora, Casey Joiner, Noah Newton, Charlotte Pickard, Isaac Matthews, and JD Martin together comprise the original cast of ‘Glass,’ an original musical with music and lyrics written by cast member Casey Joiner. The musical tells the story of several close friends in the fictional Pennsylvania town of Whiteside Chapel from the beginning of their teenage friendship in to a day eight years later when two of them get married in an outlandish ceremony.
The cast, representing three countries (the United States, Canada, and Australia,) met while studying at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in the summer of 2014. While conceived several years previously, the musical was written predominantly in the last six months and completed in early 2015. The cast continues to workshop in a student led environment; all music, lyrics, costumes, and characters were conceived by the cast.
We go to school a mere two blocks from Lincoln Center and, even after months of passing it and daring looks inside, we still see it as our ‘city on a hill.’
Doors open at 7:00pm. There will be buy one get one 50% off drink specials all night plus a chance to win tickets to see Allison Williams from HBO’s Girls perform live at Lincoln Center! (and much more!) Show your support for Mark and all the incredible artists selected to perform!
The Australian Television event of 2015 begins tonight at 9pm on Channel 9. Honoured to have the opportunity to be a part of such an important story for all Australians. Don't miss it!
JD can be seen in a TVC for Victoria University - currently playing across Victoria, Australia.
